Having taught kids aged 4-12 for over a decade, we observed that students learned much faster when songs are segmented into manageable pieces. With this in mind, blending the Suzuki Method from the 20th Century, playnolesson developed a method that is easy for students above the age of 9 and for students aged 3-8, co-learning between parent and child is a brilliant approach! Where to begin
Find out if you should start from Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 from our lessons page. Each level will take you at least 4 months hence, completing the initial grade curriculum within 12 months. This is against the usual 24 months pace at most music schools in Singapore. Once you have completed the initial grade curriculum across Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, you will be equipped to proceed with graded ABRSM exams, recommended from Grade 1 onwards.
If you do not already have a keyboard at home, purchase a $50-100 keyboard for the 1 year of learning or check out these few brands for the first 3-5 years of piano learning: Korg B2 Digital Piano at ~$730, Roland FP10 at $897, Yamaha P-125 digital piano at $1150. You can purchase any of these instruments from trusted sites like Shopee or directly from wholesalers.
